About NASCIF
Ageing is a natural and inevitable part of life. As life expectancy rises, the number of senior citizens is also increasing in Nepal and around the world. Older persons carry deep knowledge, lived experience, and practical wisdom, yet many continue to face insecurity, exclusion, and inadequate support.
NASCIF was established on December 27, 2011 as a national umbrella organization to protect the rights, welfare, and best interests of senior citizens in Nepal. It succeeded the National Senior Citizens Organizations’ Network, Nepal (NSCONN), which was founded in 2003. In a short period, NASCIF expanded its presence through district associations in more than 65 districts across the country.
NASCIF serves as a common national platform for senior citizens and organizations working in their interest. It is registered with the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council of Nepal.
Why NASCIF?
For the first time in human history, societies are confronting both new opportunities and new challenges created by a rapidly growing ageing population. These realities demand coordinated action. Senior citizens should not be treated as dependents alone. They are a valuable human resource whose knowledge and experience can continue to strengthen families, communities, and the nation.
NASCIF was formed to create that coordinated effort at the national level, grounded in local communities and connected to broader advocacy networks. Through organization, representation, and collective action, NASCIF works to ensure that senior citizens live with dignity, security, and respect.
Vision
NASCIF envisions a society where senior citizens live secure, peaceful, and dignified lives.
Mission
NASCIF works to improve the lives of senior citizens by providing immediate support services and advocating for comprehensive protection policies and their effective implementation by the government.
